In honor of February being Black History Month,
we are donating 3% of our seasonal flavors sales to three different organizations around the country that we believe are doing incredible work. Below we have shined the spotlight on each one with links to learn more or support!
SEATTLE BIPOC ORGANIC FOOD BANK
Started by John Wesley, a Seattle-based organizer and art-curator, his mission was to gather help and love from the Seattle community to build a world where everyone has access to healthy organic food, clean water, and housing.
Wesley shares that the “Food and health disparities in our nation are some of the greatest manifestations of racism and classism. We can no longer rely upon politicians to help us. We must rely upon the community. People of all ethnicities, nationalities, genders, religions - working together to find solutions for each other.”
Our donation will be going to their current GoFundMe which helps Seattle BIPOC achieve the goal of feeding their communities by distributing food boxes and resources on a weekly basis.
A percentage of every pint or scoop purchased of our three seasonal flavors will go to support their mission and we couldn’t be more humbled and honored to play a small part. Click here to shop or learn more.
THE BLACK MAMAS MATTER ALLIANCE
The Black Mamas Matter Alliance's vision and mission is to see a world where Black mamas have the rights, respect, and resources to thrive before, during, and after pregnancy. The Alliance was sparked by a partnership project between the Center for Reproductive Rights and SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective that began in 2013. The three women who lead this project today are working hard to accomplish goals that will change policies, advance care, and amplify the voices of black mamas in the healthcare system.
This organization’s mission holds great importance to us given that both of our co-owners recently became mothers this year. We believe that all women should have access to equal opportunities and advocacy in healthcare and no woman or family should suffer unnecessarily based on their race. Click here to shop or learn more.
